Stonehenge

Stonehenge....

A large quantity of very large, very heavy rocks that are believed to have come from South Wales and placed on top of each other many many miles away in Wiltshire.

A prehistoric monument.

A temple for sun worship, a healing centre, a burial site or perhaps a huge calendar.

One of the most famous sites in the world.

A world Heritage Site.

Surrounded by mystery, Stonehenge never fails to impress.

This is our visit on a very very windy September morning.

Oh what fabulous pictures. I've never been to Stonehenge and I really should try and visit. It certainly does look windy that day :)

Wonderful photographs - I love the heavy sky with stones below, very atmospheric. It's somewhere I've never been, but would love to go!

I went there once when I was very young - what an amazing place. Must go back with the kids

It is a dramatic place to visit. They used to open it up on Sundays in the winter months, so you could go up to the stones. Now you have to wait for the Summer Solstice. Along with everyone else.

It might have been windy but the sun was certainly out! Lovely pictures of both the stones and your family, it's such a fantastic place to visit. Thanks for linking up and sharing with Country Kids.

This is one of those places I remember being massive as a child, I was rather disappointed when we took Monkey last year - it seemed so much smaller than my memory suggested. Still amazing though #CountryKids

Beautiful photos. It's somewhere I've yet to visit, but I'll definitely get there one day - looks like you all enjoyed your time there.

Fabulous post. I've only even driven passed Stonehenge, on route to Yeovil from Standstead airport! Even from 80mph it looked mystical!

Great pics too! Popping over from Country Kids linky! x
